Obituary

Robert Scott Muirhead, age 90 years, of Nixa Missouri passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in Springfield, MO. He was born September 2, 1935, the son of Maye (Beal) and James Scott Muirhead in Toledo, Iowa. Bob was proceeded in death by his parents and a daughter, Anne Marie. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Bohrisch) of Nixa and their three children: Robert Scott Muirhead, Jr. and wife Susan of Manchester, CT; James Walter Muirhead and wife Kay Blassingame of Roseville, MN; and Beth Lynne Grebeldinger and husband Nick of Clinton, MD. He is also survived by his sister Gloria Sietmann of Marshalltown, IA, three grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Bob grew up on a dairy farm in Central Iowa. The roots he established there were integral to the character he developed in pursuit of a successful family and professional life.  He loved the land and cherished animals including many family pets. In high school his interest in music led him to percussion and the joy of playing in swing bands and marching bands that continued to flourish in the Elks Drum and Bugle Corp.  This allowed his young family to attend and enjoy many parades and civic festivals throughout the Dakotas where he began a successful career in sales management for the HVAC industry throughout the country.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserves while in Iowa and North Dakota completing his period of enlistment and earning an honorable discharge in 1962.

He was an avidly social man who made acquaintances easily. He readily turned acquaintances into friends whether the circumstances were local or international.  His curiosity and love spanned the globe.  While in Colorado, through the American Field Service he opened his home, heart and family to three exchange students: Natalie Pasquale from Brazil, Bue Kristiansen from Denmark, and Katrin Schroeder Tietz from Germany.  Each became another child to love and celebrate.  A life-long learner, at a more advanced age he took up the study of the German language because there were friends and relatives there with whom he wished to better communicate.

Bob was passionate about the welfare of children and cared deeply for animals, concerns that made a perfect match for his volunteer work at New Heights Therapy, an equestrian therapeutic riding center in Folsom, Louisianna.  He also took a job in retirement with Barn Tours, an educational endeavor that escorted county and state fair-goers across the country through animal barns to explain animal lifecycles and animal husbandry, a perfect opportunity for Bob to share his knowledge and experience.

Bob was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed by all of his family, his sister, in-laws, nieces and nephews.  His legacy of love and a life well-lived will be treasured always.
