Robert J. "Jim" McCune was born on May 18, 1932 in Victor, Montana to Gilbert and Marie McCune. He graduated from Victor High School in 1949; he spent four years in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman in the fleet Marines. After graduating from Washington University School of Dentistry in 1960 he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service for thirteen years achieving the rank of 0-6. In 1972 he joined the Johnson and Johnson Dental Products Company and served as VP of Research and Development and Professional Relations. IN 1985 he joined the faculty of Washington University School of Dentistry and left the University in 1992, then as Associate Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Sue (Watson), a sister Norma Brown of Victor, Montana, a brother William McCune of Seeley Lake Montana, a sister Hazel Birch of Victor Montana and a brother John Pete" McCune of Carson City, Nevada. He is survived by a daughter Carey Heck of Audubon, PA, sons Eric and Grant of Springfield, MO, son Brett of St Louis, MO, and 11 grandchildren. Visitation will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6-8 PM. Graveside services and interment will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
