Robert John McCoy Jr (Bob) of Springfield, Mo passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, September 21st at the age of 75. Cherished oldest son of the late Robert and Anne McCoy. Beloved husband of Janice Lynn McCoy for 54 years and devoted father of Melissa Bultas and Libi Toroslu. Adored by son-in-laws Cenk Toroslu and Bill Bultas. Papa is survived by five loving grandchildren Lynnlee Hunt, Leo, Ayla and Sevaryn Toroslu and William Bultas. He was preceeded in death by his sister Pam Harte, and loved by brother Dale McCoy, sister Kim Dunsworth, and brother Jim McCoy. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews he loved. He had so many friends that he considered to be family and among them he cherished dearly Jim Stiles, Charles McCracken and Larry Young.
Bob graduated from Fairview High School in Saint Louis, MO in 1963. He attended University of Missouri at Rolla and graduated in 1967 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Robert proudly served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps as an Artillery Training Officer. The majority of his career was spent at Syntex Agribusiness; during this time he also earned his Masters in Business Administration. Bob was an active volunteer of Sertoma, Boys and Girls Club, and participated in many runs for charity and rode in multiple MS150 bike races.
Bob's true passion was planning adventures and being outdoors with his buddies and family, Bass fishing, floating the Buffalo, Hiking the Wind River Range in Wyoming, fishing Crooked Creek and later in life teaching his grandchildren to fish.
As an avid conservationist, in his later life Bob enjoyed volunteering at the Nature Center and logged over 6412 hours. He is survived by his loving dog Beau who he took out for daily journeys in his truck.
He touched many lives and told many stories that live on in his family, friends and children's memories.
Private family graveside services with full military honors will be held in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
