Born into a simple farm life in Bronaugh, Missouri in rural Vernon County on October 17, 1930, Bob Holland peacefully finished a well and faithfully lived life on earth on August 8, 2023 at the age of 92.

Bob Holland was a planner and eschewed pretention in his daily life, so none who knew him well were surprised he had fully planned for his own passing and had left his final "doctor's orders," which included that there not be a long-detailed obituary, and that no memorial service should be held, approving only a private time of prayer for the family graveside.

Born to Vernon and Gladys (Linn) Holland of Bronaugh, he married Dolores Melluish, who also preceded him in death.  He is survived by two children, Charles Robert Holland of Springfield and Carolynn Denise Thompson and husband, John, of Marshfield, two grandchildren, Nichole Linn Thompson of Strafford and Joshua Robert Thompson and his wife, Alexandra (Hasson) Thompson, of Marshfield, and two great grandsons Truman Sterling Thompson and Reagan Samuel Thompson of Marshfield.  He is also survived by his younger brother Linn Holland of Nevada, Missouri, several nieces, and a nephew.

Bob was a graduate of Bronaugh High School, the University of Missouri at Columbia and Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, becoming a board-certified pediatrician.  He began his medical career as an officer in the U.S. Army, later becoming a partner at Smith Glynn Callaway Clinic in the early 1960's where he cared for children throughout southwest Missouri for more than 45 years.

Healer by profession, teacher by example, and man of deep faith, Dr. Robert Holland will be laid to rest beside his wife Dee in a private family prayer service on Monday, August 14th at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens in Springfield. Online condolences may be done at www.gormanscharpf.com.
