Robert Pettigrew Groseclose, age 85, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwyndolyn Prows Groseclose; daughter Donna and son-in-law Jerry Carlin; daughter Nancy and son-in-law Jack Morrison; five grandchildren; Justin Carlin, Caleb Carlin, Charissa Fuhr, Callie Teasdale and Haley Morrison; two great granddaughters; Annabelle Teasdale and Tenley Carlin. He was a 1950 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York where upon graduation he chose to serve his country as an officer with the United States Air Force. In 1960 he earned his Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech. He was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Camp Carson; Dayton, Ohio at Wright Patterson AFB; Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia Tech; Los Angeles, CA; San Bernardino, CA; Washington, DC at the Pentagon and Andrews AFB; Bitburg, Germany and Athens, Greece. Retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1978 after serving in the military for 30 years, he and his wife Gwyn moved to Orlando, FL. In 2005 they moved to Springfield, MO to be closer to family. He was a devoted member of First Evangelical Free Church and the Gideon Card Chairman of the Gideon International Ministry here in Springfield. He loved the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind and always put Him first in His life. Services will be held at First Evangelical Free Church on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 1:00 pm with interment following the funeral service at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Evangelical Free Church or the Gideon's International. He was a loving husband, father and friend and is already missed.
