IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Lee
Campbell
December 30, 1933 – September 25, 2021
Robert Lee Campbell, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Strafford, MO.
Robert was born on the family farm in Bassville, MO on December 30, 1933.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents La Verne and Vernetta Campbell; sister Norma Williams; brother Lawrence Campbell; wife Gwendolyn Campbell; step-grandson Timmothy Richardson.
Robert enjoyed many things, he loved fishing and camping and even made a camper shell. He loved playing country music and had a couple of bands (Bob Campbell and the HillToppers and Bob Campbell and the Drifters) that played around Springfield and small towns in the area. He played for many years. He even made custom electric guitars and fishing poles. Robert also loved to trade and work on cars from Model T's, Studebakers, Corvairs, Morris Minors, Volkswagens and many more. He also loved gardening; he had quite a large garden and shared it with family and friends.Robert also loved to work on John Deere lawn mowers; he had several and was most partial to his big green and yellow lawn mower
Robert retired from the Springfield School System after 27 years. Until December 31, 1993, he held many different positions in maintenance and was a jack of all trades, he even sewed the drapes for the schools' large stages.
Robert had two children: son, Dennis Campbell and wife Charlena Campbell and daughter Robonna White; two stepdaughters, Debbie Richardson and Dee Dugan; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Robert had a companion for many years, Rosa Lea Tabor, who took such good care of him as his health worsened. He was so lucky to have her and her family in his life and appreciated everything they did for him these last years of his life.
He was such a good man and will be missed very much. He was such a kidder and always flirting or making people laugh.
