Robert “Bob" J. Davis passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bob lived a life defined by integrity, kindness, resilience, and respect. His steady presence, guidance, and genuine care for others impacted many lives, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Born in Niangua, Missouri, Bob attended St. Agnes Catholic High School and proudly served in the United States Army after graduation. Following his military service, he attended Missouri State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, earning his Certified Public Accountant license and becoming a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Missouri Society of CPAs.
Bob built a distinguished career in accounting and business in Springfield, beginning as Controller for McDonald’s before establishing his own private accounting practice. After several years in private practice, he joined Baird, Kurtz & Dobson as a Partner. He later served as President and Chief Financial Officer of a local garment manufacturing company and as Chief Financial Officer of Forest Institute. Until the time of his passing, he was the owner of a professional cleaning services company.
While Bob took pride in his professional accomplishments, he also gave back to his community by sharing his time, leadership, and expertise through numerous organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Red Cross Outstanding Volunteer Services, the Rotary Club, the MSU Bears Booster Club, the Greene County Estate Planning Council, and the Greene County Sales Tax Oversight Board.
Bob found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He cherished time spent boating with family and friends on Table Rock Lake, woodworking, tending to his lawn and vegetable garden, and cheering on the Missouri State Bears football and basketball teams and the Kansas City Chiefs. He treasured time spent with his wife and kids and enjoyed monthly outings with close friends and colleagues.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Deborah; daughter Kimberly; daughter-in-law Jules; granddaughter Sonya; brother Richard and wife, Peggy; niece Jennifer and her family and numerous cousins and extended family.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brian; his father, Harold; and his mother, Gertrude.
A Celebration of Life honoring Bob will be held on Thursday, October 29th, from 5:00-7:30pm at Twin Oaks Country Club, 1020 E. Republic Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Missouri State University College of Business or the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
Bob led his life by example, believing in working hard, treating others with dignity, serving his community, and, above all else, being there for the people he loved. His legacy is found not only in the career he built and the organizations he served, but in the countless relationships he nurtured and the lives he enriched along the way. Though he is deeply missed, his kindness, wisdom, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to family will live on with those who knew him.
