Obituary

Ricky (Rick) Joe Rohrbaugh, son of Gerald (Jerry) and Joyce Ammons Rohrbaugh was born on April 5, 1955, in Cherokee, Iowa.

Rick had several interests in his youth including playing several sports such as football, track, and training and riding his beloved ponies.  In his high school years, Rick enjoyed his 'hot rod" cars and motorcycles as well as being active in the First Congregational Church of Peterson, Iowa.  Rick earned his reputation as an extremely hard work early in his high school years milking cows and doing farm chores early in the morning before school and then again after school was dismissed.

Following graduation in 1973 from Sioux Valley High School in Linn Grove, Iowa, Rick started his young family marrying Laurie Wetherell in the Congregational Church.  Soon after daughter Heidi Ann Rohrbaugh Gaeta followed by son Michael R were born.  Rick began a career operating heavy equipment for his father-in-law at the family business in Peterson to provide for his young family.

In 1984 after a chance opportunity Rick moved his family to Springfield, MO to take on a new adventure and career in the landscaping and construction industry.  It was in this role that he discovered his talent and eye for the aesthetic of landscaping.

On September 3, 1993, Rick and Barbara Lane Masterson were married at Barbara's parents' house on an acreage outside of Rogersville, MO. Rick and Barb would go on to operate their own Lawn Care and Fertilizing business.  Rick and Barb enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson Motorcycle all over the country, spending weekends at their place on the lake, volunteering at the church, going to Africa and South America on mission trips, and spending time with family.  Rick devoutly served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ never missing an opportunity to share his love for Jesus with the uninitiated. Rick and Barb were active members of James River Church.  Barbara lost her courageous battle with cancer on May 25, 2017.

Rick passed on Thursday April 21, 2022, at his home in Springfield after a long and difficult battle with multiple health related conditions.  Rick was preceded in death by wife Barbara, parents Gerald and Joyce Rohrbaugh, grandparents Leonard (Bud) and Oma Rohrbaugh and Carl and Viola Ammons, brother Nick Ray Rohrbaugh, and grandson Braden Michael Rohrbaugh (Gaeta).

Rick is survived by his daughter Heidi and her husband Jose Gaeta of Springfield, Michael and his wife Stacy of Springfield, stepdaughter Summer Masterson-Goethals and her husband Eric of Springfield, three grandchildren: Taylor Bruenger, Hannah Rohrbaugh and Tyler Rohrbaugh, sister-in-law Shellee Rohrbaugh of Springfield, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
