Obituary

Rickey "Rick" D. Rice, 59 passed away February  1, 2019 at a Barnes Hospital Hospice Facility in St. Louis, MO.  He was born March 16, 1959 in Kansas City, MO to James and Claudette Rice.  Rick moved to Springfield and started Rice Equipment Service, Inc. in 1990 servicing Springfield area restaurants for their equipment needs.  He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Rice March 17, 2001 in Las Vegas, NV.

He was preceded in death by his mother Leta Claudette Rice.

Rick is survived by his wife Jackie; his son Bryan (wife Callie); his daughter Brenda (husband Adam), stepdaughter Leanna (husband Tez); stepson Neal (wife Hannah); seven grandchildren Bryson, Zoe, Breezy, Zea, Mathis, Aima and Paxtyn.  He is also survived by brother John (wife Quanita); sister Linda (husband Wade); niece and nephews; and his father, James A. Rice.

Rick was an avid skydiver for many years and after giving that up he enjoyed lake life with his wife and family.  He loved his work, customers, co-workers and their families and his friends.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday,  February 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole St., Springfield, MO.  A celebration of life gathering will be hosted by good friends Don and Cynthia Jacobs, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at their home at 6286 S. Parkhaven Lane, Springfield, MO 65810 in Rivercut.  All friends and family are invited.  It would be what Rick would have loved.
