Rick S. Parks, 56, of Springfield, MO lost his battle to lung cancer on October 12, 2013. Rick was born on February 13, 1957 to the late Hugh and Thelma Parks. Rick is survived by sister, Lanta; children, Jeremy, Shannon and Taylor; and grandchildren, Jake and Chloe. Rick graduated from Parkview High School and Southwest Missouri State University. Rick had a passion for building homes, spending time with family, listening to music, and was an especially large supporter of the local music scene. He was a strong advocate of organ donation and volunteered much of his time to the Donate Life organization. The visitation will be held on Saturday October 19th from 2-4PM and the memorial service on Monday October 21st at 11AM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home at 1947 E. Seminole. The burial service will follow the memorial at Maple Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Donate Life at donatelife.net, or American Cancer Society at cancer.org. Donations for each can also be made at the visitation.
