Obituary

Rickey (Rick) Lane Hampton was born March 19, 1954, to Herschel and Madra Carlee (Newton) Hampton in Springfield, MO. After an extensive battle with illness, he went to his Heavenly home November 30, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandparents, a nephew, Timothy Lyons; and lifelong friends, Andy and Bruce Angel.

Rick was married to the love of his life, Cathie (Campbell), on December 27, 1976 in Springfield, MO. They enjoyed 45 years of love and friendship.

Rick was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and comic relief for everyone he encountered. He did not know a stranger and gave the greatest hugs. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1972 and received a surveying certificate from Draughon Business College. He worked at Lily-Tulip Cup Factory, hauled cattle with his Dad, and he was a land surveyor for many years. Rick had many friends in several walks of life. He was always helping people and had been registering as an organ donor for 16 years, where he continues to help others even after his death.

Rick loved golfing, fishing, traveling, playing cards, volunteering at church, and enjoyed entertaining others with his sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh.

Rick is survived by his wife, Cathie (of the home); daughter, Marlana (John) Howerton and their children, Cole (Maddie) and Audrey Howerton; son, Ryan (Maegan) Hampton and their children, Rhiannon and Myric Hampton; a son, Chris Hampton (and family); sister, Sharon (Steve) Lyons; nieces, Kim (Kevin) Kinser and Kathy Sue (Chris) Ross; former mother-in-law, Irene Lowry; and a treasured and loved brother-in law, David Campbell.
