Rick Grier, 74, of Springfield, passed away on October 18, 2018, from complications of ALS. Rick was born on September 2, 1944 to Harold and Wanda (Murphy) Grier of Strafford, MO. He attended and graduated from Central High School in Springfield in 1962 and went on to attend Southwest Missouri State College and Central College in Fayette, MO. While attending college in Fayette, he met Nancy Miller and the two were married on June 12, 1965 in Fayette. They returned to live in Springfield, where Rick entered Burge School of Radiology, which he graduated from in 1967. He worked as an R.T. at KU Medical Center and at Cox Hospital before entering the field of pharmaceutical sales in 1969. He worked for Milex Products, Roche Laboratories and PDI as well as selling medical equipment and supplies for Goetze-Niemer Co. His last 4 years of full-time work was as a Customer Sales Rep. in the banking industry. Rick and Nancy were "beach nuts" and spent many memorable days and nights on the beaches of both Florida and the Caribbean.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Harold Grier; brother, Tom Grier; two aunts and three uncles.

He is survived by his mother, Wanda Grier of Springfield; wife of 53 years, Nancy of the home; son; Dr. Aaron Grier (Leah) and grandchildren Kirsten and Ethan, all of Ozark; uncle, Harry Grier of Springfield; aunt, Bobbie Gott of Port Charlotte, FL; many nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving 4-legged buddy, Fonzie.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Maple Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Mid-American Chapter, 2209 Petrus Circle, Ozark, MO 65721 to help find a treatment and/or cure for this horrible disease.
