Obituary

Richard Wayne Stowell, 78, peacefully passed away at home in Springfield, Missouri on September 11, 2021.  Richard was born on April 19, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Missouri. At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was active in the church community, most recently as a member of Springfield Church of God 7th Day.
Richard owned and operated R & S Truck Service in Springfield from 1974 to 1979. After a severe back injury, he put away his tools and went to work as a Regional Sales Manager for Tremco Incorporated and, most recently, as a Developer, Owner, and Manager of Self-Storage Properties. Richard was an avid drag racer in his younger days and passed on that passion and automotive knowledge to his 3 sons. He also enjoyed the outdoors; fishing; boating; camping, hiking and in his later years thoroughly enjoyed dancing with his wife Christine. He enjoyed spending time with his extended family, grandkids and most recently great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Stowell and Eula Mae (McKinnon) Stowell, and sister Patsy (Stowell) Petree.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22-years, Christine Joy (Barker) Clum-Stowell, his brother (Charles) Steven Stowell, sister Barbara (Stowell) Scott, his sons (Timothy) Scott Stowell (57), Dale Wayne Stowell (55), and (Joseph) Brian Stowell (51), his stepdaughters, Victoria Batchelder (45), Charity Mutert (38), Bethany Nowowiejski (37), and Faith Merlin (31), and his stepson, Nathaniel Clum (42), 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17 at Springfield Church of God 7th Day located at 1521 E 24th Street, Springfield, Missouri, 65803. The service will be officiated by Reverend Andy Hassen. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at the church immediately prior to the funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Convoy of Hope, Ozarks Food Harvest or to the Alzheimer's Association.
