Dr. Richard Lee "Skip" Stovall, age 70, of Kimberling City, MO passed away December 30, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born March 28, 1944 in Springfield, MO, the son of Wilburn and Ernestine (Putman) Stovall. He was a 1962 graduate at Central High School, received a Bachelor's Degree from Missouri State University, Master's Degree at Long Island University and a PhD from Ohio State. Skip served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam War. He was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Kimberling City. Skip served on the Bishop's committee and was a Bishop's Warden. He taught at the University of South Carolina before moving back to work at MSU where he spent many years as a Professor of Communications and Debate Coach. Upon retirement from MSU, Skip and Susie moved to Kimberling City. Skip loved the lake and the beaches; a true Parrothead at heart. He loved to travel. He loved his family, especially his grandkids, who called him "Poppy." Skip was an awesome husband, dad, granddad and friend. He is survived by his wife, Susie; son, Christopher Stovall and wife Tracy; daughter, Stacy Deck and husband Chris; and grandchildren, David and Brian Stovall and Katie and Michael Deck, all of Springfield. Services will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Kimberling City, MO. Interment will be at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
