Richard Patton Price of Springfield, MO passed away early Saturday from causes related to Renal Cell Cancer. Rick was born in Brookfield, MO on June 7, 1951. On April 7, 1973, he married the love of his life. He and Barbara would go on to welcome three children and three grandchildren into the world. He is remembered as a loving son and brother, a proud Eagle Scout, a devoted husband, a loyal father, uncle and grandfather, a caring coach, a mediocre golfer, and a committed member of our community. As much as anything, though, Rick valued being a great friend. The older he got, the better Rick seemed to have life figured out. His business, Import Specialists, allowed him to talk about cars all day while still maintaining that he had put in a full day's work. The relationships he developed with his partners, colleagues and customers meant the world to him. He and Barbara traveled frequently with dear friends and family to Mexico, the Carribean, California wine country and just about anywhere else with a beach or a beautiful view. Even through the pain of his final days battling cancer, Rick stayed positive and focused on the future. For Rick, his kids could do no wrong, the Cardinals were always the best team in baseball, and next year was always going to be the year Mizzou went to a BCS bowl game. Rick was preceded in death by his father, James Butler Price of Brookfield, MO. He is survived by his mother Margaret Lamke Price, of Springfield, MO, his sister Gayle Jennings Gibb of the West Plains area, his wife Barbara Greene Price, and daughters Elizabeth Jane Price and Abigail Price, all of Springfield, MO, as well as his son Patton Lee Price and daughter-in law Erin Elizabeth Chiasson of El Cerrito, CA, and grandchildren Lily Mae, Julien and Oscar. To lose Rick from our lives brings sadness, but to lose sight of his humor, love and joy would be an additional tragedy. All who had the good fortune to call Rick a friend are invited to join a celebration of his life Sunday, November 24 at 3pm at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, the Price family requests that donations be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield, The Kitchen Inc., or the Brookfield Athletic Booster Club.
