Richard (Dick) Peterson

Our Papa, Dad and husband of 64 years to the love of his life Margaret.

Born August 29, 1935 in McPherson, KS – Died September 4, 2022 in Galena (Buttermilk Springs), MO.

Son of Glenn and Grace Peterson of Burdick, KS, father of Bart (Laura) Peterson and Sonja (Keith) Pittrich and grandfather of Wade and Grant (Kit) Pittrich, Garrett, Oliver and Tucker Peterson.

Dick was a man of faith and a community leader.  He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a professional engineer, he established the Springfield office of the Trane Company where he dedicated 38 years of his professional career.

Community and outside activities include: Scoutmaster of Troop 193 (mentoring the troop's first two Eagle Scouts), Rotary Club, barbed wire collecting and lake side calisthenics instructor.

Dick and Margaret explored the world together.  From sleepy roadside motels in Biloxi, MS, to the sandy beaches of Tahiti; from the peaks of Machu Picchu, to his native country of Sweden, they made new friends at every stop (ha en bra dag!)

We love you and will miss you fiercely !

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Endowment Fund, 925 E. Seminole St., Springfield, MO 65807.
