Obituary

Richard Alvin Patterson, also known as "RAP", was born to Clara and the late Harold Patterson on November 22, 1952. He was baptized at age 11. Graduating from Central High in 1970; Richard worked for Frisco Railroad before continuing his education at MSU. He received his Bachelor's degree there in 1981. Richard loved music and played in the K.C. Express Band before moving to California, where he worked as a successful Century 21 Realtor. In 2003, he moved to Spokane, WA to pursue his dream of owning a restaurant. He just recently moved back to Springfield. Richard was extremely caring and thoughtful to others. He is survived by his mother; brother, Harold Patterson, Jr. (Linnie); and sister, Jacquelene Cross (Conail) and family. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery.
