Obituary

Richard DeArmond Moore, 70, of Nashville, TN son of Dr. DeArmond (De) and Leona Rose (Posy) Moore of the U.S. Medical Center, left this earth to be in the arms of Jesus on December 30, 2020, after a short struggle with Covid-19. Rich grew up in Springfield, MO. where his family was very active at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Parkview High School as did his sisters, Mary Virginia (Ginny) Moore Johnson and Helen Rose Moore. He won championships in wrestling, track and piano and was an Eagle Scout. His family hosted an AFS student, Francisco Ortega, from Ecuador who is still part of the family. Rich graduated from Duke University in Durham, NC. He met Christ and his first wife, Margaret Gobbel, through Campus Crusade for Christ. After graduation, he spent two years on the high school staff with Campus Crusade in Chattanooga, TN. He left that ministry to attend Dallas Theological Seminary. He built a carpet cleaning business and coached T-ball.

Rich's family moved to Nashville, TN in 1988. He helped settle the Lost Boys of Sudan and taught Sunday School at Christ Presbyterian Church. At Crosspoint Community Church he led Divorce Care and Bible Studies. He loved the people he worked with at A1 Appliance and shared the gospel with everyone he met. In 2018 he moved to Villa Maria Manor where he taught Bible studies and organized a transportation ministry for seniors needing to grocery shop. He met his second wife, Barbara Sutherland there. On September 12, 2020 they married. Rich's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. On Halloween they would all trick-or-treat together. On Thanksgiving they ate brunch at Loveless Café. He attended their special events as the loudest cheerleader.

Rich is survived by his three children, Daniel Moore, Michelle Moore Soll (Stephen Soll), and Lizzy Moore, and six grandchildren, Sophia Soll McEntee (Liam McEntee), Daniel Nouwen Soll, J. Wes Soll, Isaiah Moore, Mia Moore and Annie Grace Perez Moore. He is also survived by his wife Barbara, his beloved sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Internment of ashes will be at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville, 9090 TN-100, on Saturday, May 8 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
