Richard William McFall, Sr., age 86, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 in his home surrounded by family and aides who provided love and care. Richard (Dick) was born May 1, 1928 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Joseph Edgar and Louella Davis McFall. He was married to JoEvelyn (Hendren) for 58 years who passed away this same month in 2004. They moved to Springfield in 1963 where they raised two children, Richard and Karen, providing them an enduring foundation of care, principles and education. Dick often spoke fondly of sailing, barbequing for neighbors, his many pets, serving customers and employers, his time in Europe serving his country with the US Army, and traveling with Jo. He is preceded in death by his wife JoEvelyn, three brothers Leonard McFall, Murhl McFall, and Raymond McFall. Survivors include his son Richard (Kathleen) of Innsbrook, Missouri, daughter Karen (Bob) Gunnels of Statesboro, Georgia, sister Alice Hart of Orlando, Florida, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Kingsway United Methodist Church, where he was a member for over 45 years. Burial will follow at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
