Richard R. Garrison, 82 of Strafford passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Mercy Hospital.
He was born February 5, 1933 in Springfield to Troy A. and Joyce Caudle Garrison (later Wilkerson). He attended Sewanee Military Academy, Sewanee, Tennessee, and University of the South. He joined the US Army in 1955 and served three years active duty. Upon returning he attended Drury University and graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Agriculture. Richard retired in 2000 after 38 years of service with the Springfield/Greene County Health Department.
He was an avid HAM Radio Operator on K0(zero)VRW, hunter and fisherman and a true animal lover. He was a member of Elks Lodge (BPOE) #409 and a life-long member of Christ Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Bruce Aaron Garrison in 1990 and Richard R. Garrison, Jr in 2006 and a great-grandson, Baby George Garrison.
Richard is survived by his wife, Janice of the home; son, Michael Scott Garrison, Springfield; daughter, Cathe Lynette Hastings and husband, Randy, Ozark; four grandchildren; one great-grandson, and a brother, Steve Wilkerson, Boston, Mass.
A memorial visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2016 from 6-7:30 pm in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Interment will be at a later date.
