Richard "Dale" Burns was born July 17, 1939 in Springfield, MO and passed away May 17, 2017 at home in the presence of his loving family.

A lifelong resident of southwest Missouri, Dale graduated from Southwest Missouri State with a BA in Speech and Theatre and received a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Missouri.

Dale was the Supervisor of the Special Education BASE Program for the Springfield Public Schools until his retirement in 2009. Dale was a Life Master contract bridge player and a very active member at North Point Church.

He was preceded in death by his dear LuAnn and is survived by Melinda and Tom Goodwin, Dr. Amy Mosher and Dr. Marlys Schuh, Nicholas Goodwin, Oksana Boyko and Gracie.

Dale will be sadly missed by his wide and diverse group of friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alley Cat Allies at alleycat.org.
