Richard Clark Blackman, 83, Springfield, moved to his heavenly home on October 3, 2010 in Elfindale Manor. He was born March 12, 1927 in Moravia, Iowa, the son of Clark and Myrtice Blackman. He was a retired Farmers Insurance adjuster for 37 years and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. A wonderful, loving father, he was adored by his children and grandchildren and loved by all who knew him. He had a tremendous gift of love and kindness that will be forever in our hearts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Jo Blackman. He is survived by a son, Clark Monroe Blackman II and his wife Julia, Kingwood, TX; three daughters, Claudia J. Kelsey, Springfield, Lisa A. Baird and husband Jeff, Springfield and Mary I. Dyke and husband Jim, Ozark; two sisters, Pat Lindley and husband Bob and Mary Irwin and husband Bill; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. To honor his life, there will be a memorial service held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, October 30, 2010 followed by a visitation from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Kitchen or Meals on Wheels.
