Regina Lotven, 95, passed away on January 23, 2019 from natural causes. Regina Lotven was born November 4, 1923, in Nancy, France, to Mordecai and Rose Tuchmeier.
After surviving the Nazi occupation of France, Regina met Hyman Lotven, and they married on September 19, 1945, in Nancy, France. She then immigrated to the United States on April 4, 1946, and became a US Citizen. She got her degree in Medical Technology and Biology from Southwest Missouri State College (Missouri State) and was hired by St. John's Hospital (Mercy Hospital) where she worked for 35 years. During her employment she became the Director of the lab and the Director of the Medical Technology School at St. John's Hospital. She was active in Temple Israel Congregation as a member and President of the Sisterhood and establishing the Springfield Chapter of Hadassah.
Regina loved gardening, making deserts, playing bridge and other card games, knitting, needlepoint and was a masterful seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hyman Lotven as well as her mother, father and her brother Henri. She is survived by her sister Gytel Lotven, her nephews and niece, their spouses and their children and grandchildren along with a host of cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri, with interment following the service at Temple Israel Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. Lotven's name may be sent to Temple Israel, P.O. Box 4284, Springfield, MO 65808.
