Reba A. (Long) Parker died at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 15, 2018. She was born November 8, 1935 to Paul and Mildred (Anderson) Long. She grew up in Waynesville and Dixon, MO, graduated from Dixon High School in 1953, and on October 16, 1954 was united in marriage to John A. Parker of Dixon, who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1994. John and Reba were the parents of three children, John David, Cary Linn, and Kristi Ann.
Reba worked for many years as a secretary for the Department of Defense, first at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and then for most of her career at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Missouri. She was involved in community, school, and church activities in all the communities where she and her family resided while John pursued his coaching and teaching career. They lived in Stover, Calhoun, Licking, Knob Noster, Branson, and Chillicothe, all in Missouri, during these years. Since John's death she has resided in Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her children, John David Parker of Socorro, NM, Cary (Jeannie) Parker of Gerald, MO, and Kristi (Scot) Parker Callahan of Smyrna, TN; five grandsons, Matthew (Nicole) Parker, Brandon (Carrie) Parker, Andrew Parker, Paul Van Doren, and John Van Doren; one great granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Parker; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in the University Heights Baptist Church Chapel, with Dr. Daniel Chisholm and Tom Boone officiating. Visitation will be from 1:15 PM until the time of service. Graveside services will be at a later date in Dixon Cemetery.
