It is with great sadness that the family of Ramona McQueary announces that she has passed away.

Ramona was the first female President of what is now the Missouri State University Board of Governors.  During her tenure, student enrollment hit a record of nearly 15,000 and iconic MSU buildings were put into service including Hammons Student Center and the Duane Meyer Library.

Ramona graduated from the university in May 1952 and one month later married Fredrick M. McQueary.  Ramona and Fred were the first to wed in Hammon Chapel at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Through the years Ramona and Fred made significant financial contributions which helped sculpt the MSU landscape including the McQueary Family Health Sciences Hall, and the McQueary College for Health and Human Services.

Missouri State President Clif Smart said "Ramona McQueary was a giant in our community and at Missouri State. She was our first female chair of the Board of Regents, has her family name on a college and led in fundraising work for the Foundation.  She will be missed tremendously."

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her three sons Dr. Fred McQueary and his wife Terri, Mark McQueary and his partner Blaine Broderick, and David McQueary; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with cherished extended family and many friends.

The memorial service for Ramona Frazier McQueary has been scheduled for Thursday, July 25, at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held at 4PM in the Atrium, followed by memorial service at 5PM in the church nave. After the service, church fellowship will be in the Fellowship Hall and Atrium at 6PM.

Memorial contributions in Ramona's memory may be made to the Missouri State University Foundation.
