Phyllis A. Womack, 87, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at James River Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had resided for the past two years.
She was born on July 9, 1934, in Quincy, Illinois, to Alfred and Mildred (Mayfield) Miller. Her childhood years were spent in Siloam Springs, IL, where she was educated at Happy Holler School. Phyllis graduated in 1952 from Quincy High School. She enjoyed being employed as a telephone operator at Illinois Bell.
On November 28, 1953, Phyllis was married to Alvin Dean Womack to which four children were born to this union. She found the Lord early under the ministry of James W. Womack. As a wife and mother, her top priority was to nurture her family both physically and spiritually.
Quincy was her home until the family transitioned to Springfield, Missouri, in 1970. Mrs. Womack faithfully attended Kinser Chapel and Springfield Church of God (Holiness) until her health began to decline.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two older siblings: Doris E. Parker and spouse (Lyle), and Charles Duane Miller and spouse (Dolly), a niece, Peggy Miller, and a great-nephew, Stephen Parker.
She is survived by her four children: Shirley Gordon (Ishmael) of Ava, MO; William (Bill) Womack (Freda) of Rogersville, MO; Barbara Shreffler of Springfield, MO; Patricia (Patti) Womack of Wichita, KS. Also included are her six grandchildren: Cassie and Jenny Womack; Leah Wicker; Ashley, Joseph, and Benjamin Shreffler. Her three great-grandchildren are Nathan, Avery, and Addison Wicker. Additionally, there are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 1, 2022. The visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2022, in the funeral home. Burial will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Friday at 1:00 PM, following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Bible School, RR 1 Box 48, Ava, MO 65608, or Gideons International-the South Camp, PO Box 4221, Springfield, MO 65808.
