IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis Ann
Porter
November 5, 1945 – September 19, 2023
Phyllis Ann Porter was born November 5, 1945 in Old Allison, Oklahoma to R.J. and Faye Hyer. She passed away at 8:45 a.m. on September 19, 2023 at her home in Ozark, Missouri.
At three months old, Phyllis and her family took the train to relocate from Oklahoma to Hemet, California shortly after the conclusion of World War II. While on the train, service members on their way home from the war all wanted to hold Phyllis after being away from their own children. Phyllis, her husband, children and grandchildren all moved from Hemet, California to Ozark, Missouri in 2001.
She was a member of Ozark Full Gospel Church in Ozark, Missouri. Phyllis was a part of RV Volunteers with her husband from 1998 to 2008 where she loved to help others through building churches in cities like West Monroe, Louisiana and Bethany, Missouri. She and her husband worked at Evangel University replacing old windows in dorms before the school years began for eight summers. Phyllis loved to travel with her husband and grandchildren to places like Mount Rushmore and Blue Ridge Mountains.
She was preceded in death by her father R.J. Hyer and mother Faye Hyer, her brother Arvel Hyer, and her infant son Brett Loring Porter.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Dale Edward Porter, son Dale Edward Porter Jr., daughter Cheryl Ann Stennett, married to Harry Stennett of Highlandville, Missouri, and three grandchildren (her "hunnies") Bree Elizabeth Pawling, Brooke Riane Pawling, and Seth Edward Porter, her sister Belinda Jane Tyler, married to John Tyler of California, and many nieces and nephews.
