Phyllis Jean DeMille age 64 of Springfield passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Mercy Hospital. She was born April 7, 1948 in Hoxie, Arkansas, the daughter of Clinton and Elma Anderson Scudder. She graduated from high school in Hoxie. She worked for many years at Zenith and Litton Industries. In 1982 she married Bill DeMille. During her last years as she endured illness, she never lost her smile. Phyllis was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #409 and attended South Haven Baptist Church when her health allowed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Adcox and her nephew, David Adcox. Phyllis is survived by husband, Bill DeMille of Springfield; son, Michael Taylor (Nina); two granddaughters, Andrea and Ally Taylor, all of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Nita Griffis (Larry) of Ozark and Corliss Potter of Rolla; two brothers, Lonnie Scudder (Gina) of Paragould, AR and Donnie Scudder (Janell) of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery with Chaplain Darren Tourville officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 2053-D S.
