Phyllis J. Acker, 78 of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 8:53 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2010 in St. John's Hospital. She was a thirty-six year employee of the Assembly of God Headquarters and was a member of Evangel Temple. Phyllis had a great love for growing flowers and was a member of the Rose Society. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Acker. She is survived by a son, John Acker of Springfield; a grandson, Jack Acker of Springfield; a granddaughter, Amy Edwards of Cicero, New York; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Avery Edwards; a sister-in-law, Donna Acker of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Charlie Arsenault officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
