Philip Edwin Smith, age 78, of Springfield, MO passed away at 5:30 am on December 27 ^th , 2021. He was a member of Hickory Hills Country Club where he spent long hours fueling his passion for golf. According to him, he never had a good day on the golf course, but most people would have loved to play as well as he did.  Another passion was his career as an architect.  He was naturally creative, artistic, and loved to design. He was an avid sports fan, and religiously followed the St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri State basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Eileen Smith.  He is survived by his wife Karen Smith (Springfield, MO), his sister Susan McNew (Atlanta, GA), his daughter Carie Whitmire and husband Kevin Whitmire (Highlandville, MO), his sons Jeff Smith and wife Stacey (Springfield, MO), Zach Smith and wife Nicole (Springfield, MO), Andrew Smith and his wife Tiffany (Springfield, MO), Matthew Smith and his wife Allison (Shawnee, KS), and 13 grandchildren.

Phillip Edwin Smith's services will be held Saturday, January 8 ^th , 2022 from 4-6 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Dream Center, https://www.springfielddreamcenter.com/donate .
