Philip Fortune passed away at home on October 19, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Fortune in 2008. Phil is survived by two daughters, Barbara Adams and Catherine Hargrove and her husband Don; three grandchildren, Eric and Samantha Adams, and Chelsé Crossfield; and one great-grandson Kooper Crossfield. Phil graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Physical Science in 1960 and was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Phil worked 38 years for Burroughs Wellcome Pharmaceutical Co. In 1993, he retired from Burroughs Wellcome and joined McQueary Wholesale Drugs. In 2008, he retired from McQueary. Phil enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, particularly the Rocky Mountains, classic cars, watching football, basketball, Cardinals and popcorn! A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole, Springfield, MO. Graveside services will be at a later date in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, where he will be back again with his wife of 49 years, Patricia. As Phil would say, "Make it short, they charge by the word!"
