Petra Lois DeLashmit Martin  52, of Oklahoma City, OK, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 19, 2022 in Oklahoma City. She was born May 10, 1970, in Springfield, MO, the daughter of Jerry and Shirley (Borucki) DeLashmit.

Petra graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1988, Missouri State University, and completed an MBA and Criminal Justice master's degree in 2003 from Lindenwood University. She earned her law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2012 and practiced law in Oklahoma City until the present. She was known for her soft, kind heart for both people and animals. She donated many hours and dollars to rescue and help animals, especially cats. In her last years, Petra met and married Gerald Martin and they spent their time together taking in as much life as they could, including traveling and riding motorcycles. She died riding her dream bike and living her happiest life.

She is survived by her husband Gerald Martin, Oklahoma City, her parents Jerry and Shirley DeLashmit, Springfield, MO, and her brother Jeffrey DeLashmit, his wife Gena, nephew Nicholas, and niece Abbey, all of O'Fallon, MO. In addition, she is survived by her step daughter Juliet Martin, of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law Matthew Martin and his wife Jennie, Oklahoma City, her father-in-law Tommy Martin, Medicine Park, OK, and mother-in-law Geralyn Simpson, Sutherland Springs, Texas. Petra is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her eight cats and a dog.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Kathleen McCord and Harold DeLashmit and maternal grandparents Robert Borucki and Delma (Daniels) Borucki Ensz and step grandfather Alvin Ensz.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2200 West Republic Road, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bella SPCA, PO Box 20035, Oklahoma City, OK 73156.
