Lee Fisher, age 87, of Springfield, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 in his home. Lee was born April 18, 1923 in Joplin, Missouri. He was a veteran of WWII and participated in the Allied invasion of France on D-Day. He married Betty Louise Wigger on December 2, 1950. He left Springfield in 1960 and lived for many years in Arizona where he sold insurance and eventually owned his own interior design business. He retired and moved back to Springfield in 1988. He was active in many Southern Baptist churches in Arizona, was ordained a deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, John, daughter Tracy, mother Mae, brotherbrother-in-law Harold Pachl, and sister, Vivian Pachl. He is survived by his wife Betty, son David, daughter-in-law Linda, grandson John, and granddaughter Tracy. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 in Springfield with Rev. John Canterberry officiating under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Society or the American Humane Society.
