IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy L.
Mcdaniel
March 14, 1944 – March 11, 2022
Peggy L. (Landes) McDaniel, age 77, of Ozark, MO, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022.
Born March 14, 1944, the second child of D.L. "Bud" and Helen (Stine) Landes, Peggy graduated from Ozark High School, class of 1962, and went on to attend Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University). Peggy then went to work for the Frisco Railroad, where she worked in the accounting department. She and Albert P. McDaniel were married July 20, 1968, until his passing in 2016. Two children were born to this union.
Peggy worked for many years as a professional cake decorator and baker, eventually retiring from Harter House Supermarket, Springfield, MO. Her perfectionism and attention to detail were evident in her cake creations. After retirement, she continued to decorate wedding and special occasion cakes. Her friends often chastised her for being busier in retirement than they were (and they were the ones still working).
Peggy was a past member of the Extension Club as well as a leader with the Tomorrow 4-H Club and the Missouri Junior Limousin Association. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, integrity, dry sense of humor, candid expressions, and passion for whatever was her latest mission. Peg was a free spirit and up for any adventure. Her zest for life and shenanigans led to many memories and stories that are too numerous to count. We are so thankful that she kept her humor throughout her final days.
Peggy was preceded in death by Albert, her husband of 48 years; her parents; her sisters, Suzanne Blansit and Mary Jane Landes; her brother, John Landes; and in-laws.
Survivors include daughters, Carrie Barton, and husband David, and Libbey McDaniel, Springfield, MO; granddaughters, Laurel and Ryan Durst, Independence, KS, and Abbey and Ben Gomes, St. Louis, MO; sister, Patti Rainey, Ozark, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
The family is most grateful and appreciative of the care provided to Peggy throughout the years by Dr. Jennifer McNay as well as the caregivers at the The Oaks Cottage. So much kindness, advocacy, and going above and beyond for Peggy's well-being was exhibited.
Per Peggy's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the funeral home. A visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. Graveside services and burial will follow Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark, MO.
If you're able to attend, please come ready to share your favorite memory of Peggy.
