IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pauline "Polly"
Lackmann
October 8, 1921 – October 18, 2022
Pauline "Polly" Hale Lackmann, 101, Ozark, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 in Ozark Riverview Manor. She was born October 8, 1921 in Blue Eye, Arkansas, the daughter of Charlie and Susan Hale. Polly, as she was called by her family and many friends, was born and raised in a one room log cabin on the headwaters of Little Indian Creek outside of Oak Grove, AR. As a young girl she lived a life of "living off the grid" as we call it today, as it was the only way of life to survive. She learned to garden and can, and raise cattle and chickens. Polly's education came not only from what her parents taught her, but from walking to school each day with her brother and nephew to learn in a one room school house. As the years went on and Polly became a young woman in her early 20's she left home for Springfield, MO to take a job at O'Reilly Army Hospital. Here Polly was a nurse's aide, helping the many injured soldiers coming back from World War II. It was here that she met her husband, Raymond Lackmann, the love of her life. Polly and Raymond spent the next 58 years working and building a life together that most people would envy today. Fishing was their passion.
After the war ended, Polly spent the next 35 years working at Springfield Garment Factory. This business was the largest employer in Springfield, MO, at one time employing over 3000 people. Polly retired in the late 70's to be able to spend more time fishing, gardening and enjoying her many arts and crafts, and working on their 5 acres in south Springfield.
Polly was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by loving family and friends.
