Paul E. Wiles, age 91, of Springfield, MO, took his final peaceful flight home to be with the Lord on May 27th, 2013 (Memorial Day.) Paul was born March 10th, 1922, in Yuma, Tennessee to Lucian Young Wiles and Ada Frances(Douglas)Wiles. Paul was a decorated World War II veteran, having served under General Douglas MacArthur in the Pacific Theater as a U.S. Army Air Corps radio operator and rifle marksman. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he spent his many working years in Springfield as an electrician and auto mechanic. He was also a talented musician; playing and singing alongside country-western legends such as Red Foley, Boxcar Willie, and Roy Clark. He was a devoted father to his children, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather, and a blessing to his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew his gentle spirit. Paul will be honored during a Memorial Celebration on Sunday, June 2nd at 2:00 PM, at American Legion Post 676, 5484 West Sunshine St. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital are encouraged and appreciated.
