Obituary

Pattie Ann Wade (Houston), affectionately known as "Pat," was born on April 20, 1939, to Arthur A. "Tuffy" and Wanda Adeen Houston in Washburn, MO. She passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield, MO, on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Pat grew up in Washburn, MO, where she graduated from Southwest High School in 1956. She came to know Jesus as her Savior while attending church in Washburn, MO.  She moved to Wichita, KS where she reconnected with and began dating a former schoolmate, Farrel Wade. The two were married on December 12, 1958. They moved to Fort Leonard Wood, MO, while Farrel was in the Army, where they welcomed their first daughter, Tammie. They moved back to Wichita where they welcomed their second daughter, Tonya. The couple relocated to Springfield, MO where Pat began working for E.A. Martin and Farrel at City Utilities. They later welcomed their third child, a son, Tracy. Pat opened a flower shop in Rogersville, MO, where she worked for 21 years until she retired in 1999. She attended Crossway Baptist Church and made several friends there over the years. She enjoyed gospel music, traveling, and working with her hands making flower arrangements. But most of all, she loved her family immensely. She was the heart of the family and will be missed by those who knew her.

Pattie is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Farrel; two daughters, Tammie Doran of Nixa and Tonya Elwood of Springfield; her son, Tracy (Tracey) Wade of Rogersville; two granddaughters, Carly (Taryn) Thomas of Nixa and Taylor (Chaseten) Orr of Fort Gibson, OK; one great-grandson, Haiden Thomas; and two great-granddaughters, Jenna Thomas and Kyndal Orr; her brother, Jim (JoAnn) Houston of Clever; several nieces and nephews plus three bonus grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pattie was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn son, Rocky; her brother Bill (Ethyl) Houston; her sister Betty (Eugene) Appelhans; her nephew, Billy Appelhans; son-in-law, Jeffrey Doran, and several other extended family members.
