Patti Gaye Hunter Provance, age 91, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 30, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born the daughter of Leo and Lillian Hunter in Hoberg, Missouri on August 18, 1933.
Patti was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri, and was a very devoted catholic up until the time of her death. She was also very dedicated to the educational profession, earning her bachelor's, master's, and specialist's degrees and teaching for over 30 years. She taught at Ritter, Fairview, Holland, and York elementary schools in Springfield as well as Lockwood, where she met her husband of 62 years, Don Provance.
Patti is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lillian Hunter; her brother, William Hunter; her husband, Donald Provance Sr.; and her son, Dwight Provance.
She is survived by her children, Donald Provance Jr. and his wife Susan, David Provance and his wife Jen, Douglas Provance and his wife Mary, Daniel Provance and his wife Marybeth, and Dennis Provance; her grandchildren, Laura Provance and her husband Bryan Hoyer, Jana Clubb and her husband Tim, Michael Provance and his wife Maranda, Will Provance and his wife Jaci, Josh Provance, Maria Provance and her fiancée Ashton Goff, Elle Provance, and Kayla Reece; her step-grandchildren, Jennifer Palino and her husband Mike, Amy Bolli and her husband Jon, Melissa Courtois, and her husband Brandon, and Julia Plummer and her husband Sam; as well as 14 more grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9 at Immaculate Conception Church in Springfield, Missouri with Father Nick Zummo officiating. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the reading program under the SPS Foundation.
