Obituary

Patrick "Pat" Ray Myers, 79, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on August 15, 2025, at Mercy Hospital surrounded by loving family members.

Born on November 3, 1945 to Roy Bryan Myers and Norma Lee Fuller Myers, in Fresno, California, Pat leaves behind his family, mostly in Greene and Lawrence counties. His wife, Patricia "Patti" Stoner Myers, sisters-in-law Brenda Carter Myers, Linda Stoner (Shawnee, Kansas), Judy Gann and one brother-in-law, Bob Stoner (Jean), many nieces and nephews - Ronda Myers (Keith), Klista Hill (Chad), Jennifer Jones (Scott), Heather Green (Mike), Robert Bryon Stoner (Jennifer) (Russellville, Arkansas), Chesney Sallee (Patrick) (Kansas City, MO) and Candace Stoner. Also many grand and great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, twin brother, Beattie Alan, brothers Bill Myers of El Paso, Texas and Ronnie Dale Myers of Halltown, Missouri, sister-in-law Anita Davis, niece Joy Kay Brown of El Paso and many aunts and uncles.

Pat lived a life filled with love, fun, hard work and country values. He was known initially for his shyness in puberty, stalking an older girl he liked by riding back and forth by her house on his mule. Sadly, he doesn't think she knew he existed. Obviously, he quickly outgrew it. He developed his gregarious nature in his teens. He played football for the Miller Cardinals along with all of his close buddies.

His outgoing nature led him to a life-long career in sales. He started at Katz discount store in Springfield and quickly moved from stock boy to management of a ladies ready-to-wear department in a little discount store in Rogers, Arkansas. It was called Walmart. He could "sell ice to an Eskimo," his mom said. Selling not just ice, but AAA memberships, independent insurance agent, yellow page advertising in the telephone books (remember when), home remodeling and repair jobs, carpet, used cars, concrete services, water filtration systems, funeral prearrangements and even knives. He was always winning awards and trips due to his competitive nature.

Those who knew Pat will remember him for his hearty laughter and bear hugs, which were offered often. He never met a stranger. Based on his vast life experiences, he provided wise counsel to many who were struggling at times.

A celebration of Pat's life will be held on August 23, 2025. A visitation at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole Street in Springfield.
