Patrick Lewis McCammon passed away on July 18, 2009. He was born on June 26, 1949, in Aberdeen, SD, to Lewis Edward and Maxine B. McCammon. Pat moved with his family to Springfield in 1959. He graduated from Parkview High School in 1967, and attended Southwest Missouri State University. Pat worked for Ethan Allen as an interior designer, and regional buyer in Omaha, Nebraska. He was recruited by a store owner of Ethan Allen to manage the business so moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. After serious injury interrupted his career, he returned to Springfield, where he became involved in the Bridge Center. Following his father's death in 1994, he cared for his mother, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, for several years. His love and support helped her continue to live in her home for many years. Maxine died on June 1, 2009. Pat's greatest passion was duplicate bridge. He was an accomplished Life Master and took great pride in running the Bridge Center in Springfield. His knowledge of the game made him a sought after consultant and bridge partner in tournaments across the country. He was ambitious in finding ways to encourage new members to learn to play by conducting classes at the studio and on the internet. His helpfulness and enthusiasm for teaching were quickly acknowledged by all who met him. Pat also loved to travel and was able to see many places in the US as well as in Europe. Survivors include Michael and Susan McCammon (brother and sister in law in Greenville, NC), Kim and Larry Bryan (sister and brother in law in Aiken, SC), nephews Andrew and Reagin McCammon, nieces Ellen and Sarah Bryan, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Contributions in his memory may be given to The Southwest Missouri Humane Society. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 10:00am at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
