Obituary

Patrick James Coleman, Jr., age 80, of Springfield, MO passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2010 at Jordan Creek Nursing Home. Patrick will be joining the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Coleman and his 100 year old mother, Mary Agnes Gillooley. Pat was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He began working with the Frisco Railroad in Memphis, TN as a yard clerk at the age of 17. He was transferred to Springfield in 1959. He continued his career with Frisco/Burlington Northern until he retired in 1990 as a transportation director after 42 years of service. Pat attended Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, where he enjoyed playing football. Pat served as president of the Springfield Catholic School Board for many years. He was a loving and caring husband and father. Pat was preceded in death by his father, Patrick James Coleman, Sr.; "Big Mama" Agnes Ziperiski Gillooley; and "Big Daddy" Thomas Sebastian Gillooley, all of Memphis. Pat is survived by his sisters, Mary Anne Wehrum, Memphis; Teresa Jean Hopkins, Fredericksburg, Virginia; sons, Patrick James Coleman, III, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Michael Joseph Coleman; and Thomas Walter Coleman, both of Springfield; daughter, Mary Catherine Tonjuk, Springfield; son, John Lawrence Coleman, Branson; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Immaculate Conception Church with Father Lewis Hejna celebrant under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Pat was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
