Maxine Visintainer, Springfield, was born Patricia Maxine Kidd in Norwood, Missouri on September 26, 1924, to Myrtle Bradshaw Kidd and Oscar Kidd, of Wright County. She passed away on January 2, 2011 in Springfield, Missouri. Maxine was Valedictorian of the Norwood High School Class of 1941 and attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College for two years. Afterward, she traveled extensively including periods of residence in New York City and Alaska, where she was with the civil service. She met David Albin Visintainer in Alaska and they were married on August 28, 1948. This union continued for 57 years until they were separated by David's death in 2006. Three children were born to this union. Maxine enjoyed a lifetime interest in flower gardening and birds. She was retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Maxine is survived by her children and their spouses, David and Maribeth Visintainer of St. Louis, Alan and Caroll Visintainer, of Denton, Maryland and Betty and Brent Gamble, of Fair Play. She took great pride in her seven grandchildren, Sean and Susie Visintainer, of St. Louis; Michael Visintainer, of New Orleans; Matthew Visintainer, of Columbia, Missouri; Angela Visintainer and Sara Visintainer, both of Denton, Maryland; and Brandon Gamble and Brian Gamble, both of Springfield. She is also survived by her sister, June Hensley, of Liberty and sister-in-law Glenna Kidd, of Mountain Grove. She had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Kenneth Kidd and Dale Kidd, of Wright County, Missouri. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11 a.m., in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Chaplain Michael Kanai will officiate. Pall bearers will be her grandchildren. Services will be arranged by the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield. No visitation is planned. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Season's Hospice or the charity of the donor's wish. Maxine Visintainer
