Patricia Diane Vaughn Lambert, "Patti", age 75, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016, surrounded by her family and close friends.
Patti is survived by two of her sons, Karl Scott Lambert (Angie), of Sikeston MO, and Benjamin Pack Lambert of Ozark MO, one grandson J. Scott Lambert (Carolyn) of Sikeston MO, and their son, Patti's great-grandson, Joseph Scott Lambert II, and one grad-dog Duke Steeler Lambert of Ozark MO. She is also survived by one brother Ed Vaughn (Judy) of Las Vegas NV, one sister Theda "TJ" Vaughn of Springfield MO, one nephew Chris Vaughn (Jennifer) of Brunswick MD, and one niece Jennifer Vaughn Myer (Michael) and their children Elizabeth, Joshua and Grace, and Patti's great-great nephew Declan Myer. Patti was preceded in death by her husband Norman Ray Lambert, son Todd Parnell Lambert, mother Theda Jewell "Judy" Vaughn King, her step-father Howard King, her father Russell Woodrow Vaughn, mother & father-in-law Agnes and Earl "Little Man" Lambert, and one infant step-brother, Howard King, Jr.
Patti attended Sikeston Public Schools and Southeast Missouri State College prior to her marriage. Her greatest loves were her children, grandson, great-grandson, grand-dog, and her garden where she was famous for her"green thumb" whether growing flowers or vegetables. She also loved watching the birds that flocked to the multiple feeders in her yards wherever she lived. She loved listening to music, especially the group, Fleetwood Mac. Patti was always ready for an adventure, large or small, and could be ready to go in a heartbeat! She was especially partial to visiting the Gulf beaches of Dauphin and Sanibel Islands, and the Florida Keys. Patti was loved and adored and will be sorely missed.
Patti and Norman were married in 1961 and bought Lambert's Café from Agnes Lambert following the death of Earl "Little Man" in 1976. Together Patti and Norman built the business, moving it from the original location on 61 Highway to first, what locals would know as the old War Drum location, then finally to the fourth location where it is now at 2305 East Malone, also adding a second Café in Ozark, Missouri, and a third Café in Foley, Alabama, all contributing to the nationally recognized business as it is known today, Lambert's Café, Inc., the (only) "Home of Throwed Rolls".
The family extends special thanks to all who provided loving care for Patti, especially her tireless caregivers, and to all her family and friends who telephoned, visited, and sent cards and flowers. A brief grave-side service will be conducted on the grounds of Lambert Farms, Tuesday, August 23, at 10:00 a.m., where her ashes will be interred in the Lambert Family Cemetery. Arrangements are under the joint care of Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield MO, and Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, if you wish, to make a donation to your local chapter of the National Humane Society or your local animal care and rescue organization.
