IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia
Root
June 15, 1953 – November 24, 2023
Patricia Faye (Estes) Root, age 70, went home to Jesus on Friday, November 24, 2023. She was born June 15, 1953 in Nevada, MO to Ray and Glora Faye Estes.
Growing up in El Dorado Springs, Patricia (Trish) was baptized in the Sac River at Blackjack and grew up in the Church of God (Holiness). Raised on southern gospel and bluegrass, music and church were a huge part of her life. She graduated in 1971 from Ft. Scott Christian Heights and began working at Witt Printing in El Dorado Springs.
In 1974, Patricia married Jim Root and one daughter was born, Brandi Lynne. Trish was a testament to the modern day woman; working full time, raising a child, and remaining active with Brandi's extracurricular activities. In 1993, Patricia and Brandi moved to the Springfield area and Trish started her career with Mercy, having just celebrated 30 years this autumn.
In 2006, Patricia married Gary Oberfoell and enjoyed a life of traveling and family gatherings until his passing in 2019. Their house was always full of family and friends. No one was a stranger and no one ever left hungry.
Patricia was always on the move; always crafting and preparing amazing meals. She treasured her Sunday evening dinners with her kids, and it was common to smell pot roast as you walked in the house with her family favorite, gravy, on the rear burner. She loved being Mom and Grandma; her kids were the center of her universe. Her interests also included sewing and playing piano and clarinet. You would find Trish at Ridgecrest Baptist Church every Sunday in the RBC Orchestra where she played for nearly 20 years. Every other evening and weekend when she wasn't rooting on her grandkids' sports, band concerts, and scouting events, you might find her at home watching the Hallmark channel, but it was most common for her to watch cooking shows. Trish loved her family, was a friend to all, and a dear second mother to many.
Welcoming her in heaven are her parents and husband. She continues to watch over her daughter, Brandi and her husband Michael Rice (Springfield), grandchildren Peyton and Evan Rice, her brothers Jerry Estes (St. Louis) and Terry and his wife Tanja Estes (El Dorado), nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to noon, Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow at noon in the church.
