Native Missourian and Proud Springfieldian Patricia "Pat" Stone Kimball passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at her home. The past six months of social isolation for COVID 19 contributed greatly to her demise.
She was born September 4 th , 1926 in Laclede County, Missouri to Mattie (nee Shields) and William O. Stone. She was the youngest of three children.
Pat graduated from Springfield Central High School and attended Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University) where she pledged Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
At Southwest Missouri State, Pat met her future husband on a blind date. In 1947 Pat married Roland F. Kimball at Central Christian Church in Springfield. The couple spent several years in Kansas City while Roland completed Dental School at the University of Kansas City (now the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry). Pat and Roland were married 59 years until his death in 2006.
Dr. and Mrs. Kimball returned to Springfield in 1956. Dr. Kimball opened a dental practice and the couple reunited with old friends and made many new ones throughout their lifetime. Some of their favorite times were spent with friends and family at their home on Table Rock Lake.
Pat's involvement in the community included The American Arts Group of Springfield Art Museum, Board Member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield, The American Heart Association, Greene County Dental Wives, and Alter Guild of King's Way United Methodist Church. She was a member of Hickory Hills Country Club.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ina L Armstrong, brother Dean "Bud" Stone, granddaughter Courtney Kyte Plandowski
Survived by daughter Julie Kyte (William), grandson Peter Kyte (Elizabeth), grandson-in-law Mark Plandowski, two great-grandsons Peter Kyte, Jr. and William Harvey Plandowski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Because of COVID 19 the services will be private. Burial at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
