Obituary

Surrounded by her loving family, Patricia Flynn Webb went home on July 26 th , 2022 at the age of 92. Patricia (Patsy) was born in the home of her parents, William Albert & Ruby Jane (Holloway) Dean, on January 16 th , 1930 in Ava, MO. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to their original homestead in Hammond, MO, established in 1865 by her great-great-grandfather after returning from the Civil War. Despite growing up in such a difficult time in history, her childhood gifted her with endless positive memories, like swimming in the river and playing numerous games with her family.

From the very start, Patsy was the apple of her father's eye. He was hardworking, full of life, and doted on Patsy every chance he had. Her mother was strong, intelligent, and always ensured their home was a happy place. Through her, Patsy learned the true importance of home. (This fact was evident to all that knew Patsy, as later in life, her home always served as the go-to location for family gatherings). Patsy had one older brother, William Jr. (Bill), that adored and spoiled her to no end. She also had two ornery younger brothers, Donald (Don) and Robert (Bob), who loved to trick her with pranks and jokes – all in good fun, of course. Several years later her younger sister Mary Beth (Beth) was born, who always said her older sister was an angel.

Patsy attended Ava High School, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Vandiver (Van) Flynn. To this union, 4 children were born: Rebecca Jane, Deborah Sue, Carol Colleene, and much to the utter delight of all, Joseph Kevin.

Along the path of life, Patsy remarried William (Bill) Webb. Bill was an incredible, doting husband that showered her and her family with love and support. She enjoyed a long career in the fine jewelry industry, where she worked at numerous jewelry stores throughout Springfield. Patsy loved to spend her days beautifying her home and garden – she always had the prettiest flowers on the block! She also loved to bake, read, work on the daily crossword puzzle, and spend time with one of her countless close friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by parents William and Ruby Dean, daughter Debbie Selsor, husband Bill Webb, first husband and father of her children Van Flynn, brothers Bill, Bob, and Don Dean, son-in-law Jack Dameron, and grandson Jason Dameron.

Patsy is survived by daughter Rebecca Flynn and her son Adam Martin, son-in-law Doug Selsor and his sons Shawn (Susan) & Travis (Alyson) Selsor, daughter Carol Colleene Flynn Dameron (Tim Alexander) and her children Sarah, Ashley (Doug Leass), and Troy (Crystal) Dameron, son Kevin Flynn (Jennifer David) and his daughter Piper Flynn (Aaron Kruger), sister Beth (Danny) Maloney, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, several beloved nieces and nephews, best friend and honorary family member Pat Tolliver, and many other special individuals – too many to be named.

To encapsulate Patsy's story into a brief excerpt is no small task – especially when she has lived such an extraordinary life. The best description of Patsy is best said by the words spoken time and time again by her loved ones: beauty, grace, class, matriarch. We know that Debbie had a chocolate martini waiting for her on the other side as she walked her into the biggest and best reception anyone has ever seen.

Celebration of Life will be held at 425 W Walnut St on Wednesday, August 3rd from 4-7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.smiletrain.org , a charity that Patsy always held close to her heart. Online condolences may be left at www.gormanscharpf.com.
