Pansy Opal Miller was born August 23, 1911 in Buffalo, MO, the daughter of Joe Thomas and Nellie (Keith) Stafford. She died on January 30, 2009 at home with family in Ashland, MO at the age of 97 years. On April 11, 1941, she was united in marriage with Russell D. Miller and one child, Carolyn, was born of this union. Pansy attended Draughn Business School and then worked as a bookkeeper at Stafford Brothers Livestock Commission Firm for many years. She had a zest for life and a genuine love of people. Her smile was well known for brightening a room and came easily to her. She enjoyed traveling to visit family and socializing with friends. One of her favorite activities was playing bridge with her dear friends. Pansy was preceded in death by her husband Russell Miller, and siblings, Edna Durington, Paul Stafford, Enith Dixon, Kenneth Stafford, Edith Durrington, and Clint Stafford. She is survived by a sister, Bethel Connelly of Lee's Summit, MO; a daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Steve Cheavens of Ashland, MO; two granddaughters, Jen Cheavens of Columbus, OH and Beth Lambiotte and her husband Brian of Ashland, MO; one great grand daughter Josephine; and a large number of nieces, nephews and caring friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield National Cemetery. Visitation will immediately precede the service at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of America, 3050 I-70 Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, MO.
