Obituary

Pamela Rose Millsap passed away peacefully Friday evening, July 16 th after a long and difficult illness. Pam is survived by her husband Joe and son Baxter; her brother Kenneth Dale Rose, his wife Sandy, and their children Mike, Megan, and Mark. She also survived by in-laws, nieces and nephews, and cousins on both sides of the family, all of whom loved her and appreciated her compassionate nature and her myriad talents. She was born December 6, 1955, to Mary Lou (Dodson) and Kenneth Paul Rose, who preceded her in death.

Pam was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend to many. She was always willing to listen and have meaningful conversations with those in her life.

Pam's faith was not complicated. She had an uncompromised faith in God. She carried that faith through her life and was never afraid to demonstrate her faith through her actions and relationships with people around her.

She hated to cook, but when forced, she could create an incredible dish. She much preferred being outdoors—hiking, fishing, canoeing, going to a gravel bar along an Ozark stream, or to any beach. Or gardening, which was one of her several passions in life. A walk around her yard shows her talent for nurturing plants to their full potential, as a look at the wisteria that shades her entire patio proves.

Music was a constant companion that Pam worked on and developed throughout her life. A trained and educated pianist, she was always willing to accompany singers, musicals, or play for church services. She composed several songs and when she played them for friends, they were amazed at the beauty of the songs. At the family Christmas sing-alongs, she tolerated the non-professional singers and loved the merriment and joy it brought to the evening.

Pam found her career passion in teaching and education. She held teaching positions in Springfield, Seymour, and Strafford. She constantly challenged her students in the classroom to ask questions and develop a curiosity to learn. But she also made learning fun – she would play the Best of Earth, Wind, and Fire while her Seymour fourth graders worked in groups. When Pam taught middle school science at Strafford, she always made sure students grasped concepts and material. Pam always had the compassion to help the struggling student and never left a child behind.
