Orville W. Curp, 88, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on December 18, 2011. He was born June 21, 1923, in Springfield, Ohio. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, he worked as a draftsman for the Frigidaire division of General Motors in Dayton, Ohio. After retiring in the late 1970s, he moved to the Ozarks. He was an avid duplicate bridge player, and loved traveling to all of the lower 48 states with his wife, Maxine, visiting many national parks and historical sites. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 wonderful years, Maxine; five children, Rita Gordon (Lee), Kenneth Curp (Rosemary), John Curp, Richard Curp, Karen Schweller (Bruce); and four stepdaughters, Susie Cravens (Jim), Barbara Record, Elaine Tolen (Steve), Darlene Deas (Rod). He was loved by 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
