Opal Irene Gillespie, 93 of Springfield passed away at home on Saturday, February 21, 2009. She was a life long member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Irene was retired from Commerce Bank where she had worked for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Gillespie. Irene is survived by her children, son and daughter-in-law, John and Billie Gillespie of Keller, TX, her daughters, Carolyn Gillespie and Joyce Gillespie of Springfield. She was blessed with grandchildren, Brian and Kendra Gillespie of Columbia, South Carolina, and Brad and Tiana Gillespie of Chicago, IL, as well as many great-grandchildren and a large extended family. There will be a private family graveside service under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. No formal visitation is planned.
